Weekly Photo Challenge: Journey

I met my friends in the parking lot of the Target in Front Royal, VA today so that we could take a single car into Shenandoah National Park for a short hike.

When I arrived there was a truck loaded with racing pigeons from the Fairmont Pigeon Club.

We asked the 2 gentlemen if we could watch the release and they said sure but make sure you stand back.

      Thanks! The gentleman told us that 90% of the birds will make it home. The pigeons are hunted by birds of prey like the Peregrine falcon.
