I am section hiking the Appalachian Trail (AT). I started hiking the AT in May 2006 and have stepped on the AT in 7 different states.

I have already hiked the northern terminus (Mt. Katahdin, Maine) and the southern terminus (Springer Mountain, Georgia). Now, I am slowly hiking the rest of the trail during my vacations from work.

My goal for training is to stay strong and fit for hiking. I have a bad left knee which will not bend past 90 degrees due to arthritis. I have had the following surgeries on my knee:

  • (1982) Left knee: torn anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, and medial meniscus
  • (1992) Left knee: torn meniscus
